Adding a textured background?

Today i explored whether or not I should add in a paper texture background to my film to combat the boring plain white background i am using at the moment.
I like the idea of this because it can bring a new layer of animation or movement, if I later decide to work with the paper.
Here's a scan from my sketchbook:

I much pefer the ripped and balled up paper to the flat paper, and I also think it would work much better with my style of animation compared to the other.
As you can see, I also explored ink textures today as well. This was interesting as it made me rethink the style I want to use for the morse code scene which involves a black background to work. However, I will further explain this later on.
I have made some scans that I want to work with for my paper background.

Something like this.
Next I created the ink textures that I may want to use in the film.
I am interested to see how these ideas may progress in the future, but for now I am happy with the results and look forward to adding them into the work I have done so far.
