For our promotion and distribution class this term, we need to create several things, one of these things is a showreel. Having a good showreel is a key element to getting a job and networking after university and in industry.
I have been working on my specific showreel these last couple of days. I am only using working from the past year of films and would love to create more short films once the deadline for the final major film is done and over with. It's great to have so many ideas that I wanted to work on, so I am excited to get on with them and development so new work after.
The most important part of a showreel is showcasing the very best of your work and keeping it short and snappy. A good showreel needs to be between 1.25 minutes to 1.75 minutes long, which is what I am aiming to do too. I have been browsing through my work for the past couple of days trying to pick out the best bits and the parts that showcase my talents in different types of animation.
I hope that I will be able to finish this soon so that I can get it out of the way and then start on some of the other elements of this courses work load.
