Horses sketches - amongst the waves

This afternoon I have started the middle stages of planning for a particularly difficult scene. It requires several moving parts for it to work well and I think that if I can pull off what is required then it could be a really important scene for the film and really create a dynamic atmosphere.

I will attach a couple of the sketches I made this afternoon. One having the background taken from one of the scenes and the other just a plain background. I think I will take elements from both into the final tests.

The reason it think that this may be difficult to pull off is that I will be animating three main things as the focal point of the scene. These being the waves, the dinghy with the men inside and the horse waves. I will do some quick thumbnails ahead of storyboarding the movements of the waves. I think this kind of planning will help me finish quicker in the long term.
